Different From Other Great Players

Not to take anything away from them, but most great players in the NBA are recognized for their basketball talents at a very young age, and by the time they’re ready to graduate high-school they’ve been so hyped up that they’re considered a disappointment if they don’t excel in the NBA. Jeremy Lin on the other hand has come out of nowhere – no one expected him to be nearly this good, much less a star. Physically he’s much smaller than most NBA players, and prior to starting for the Knicks he attended Harvard, a school which excels in academics but not very well known basketball. He’s also Asian-American, a rarity in the NBA. Simply put Jeremy Lin was someone you’d never expect to be this good; he was the underdog and he made it which is something that always excites people.

A Universal Player

During the Knicks’ 7-game winning streak Lin has shown everyone what he is capable of – just about everything. Lin has been driving the ball in hard on the big guys, hitting mid-range jump shots, and his 3-point game has been spot on. Not to mention he hit a clutch game-winning shot against the Raptors, which proved he could keep his poise in the eye of defeat. He has motivated a previously distraught team and has them moving in the right direction. Lin has been scoring high, distributing the ball well, and is doing a phenomenal job of keeping his team competitive and in the game.

Most basketball players have a distinct strength a weakness. Some are big (centers), some handle great, some shoot great. Lin can do it all. Jeremy Lin has no distinguishable strength or weakness – he’s a very well rounded player who can fill nearly any role. He’s also a very intelligent player making decisions you’d expect from seasoned veterans, not a first-time starter. Jeremy Lin isn’t about scoring the most points or having the most assists, he’s about winning – doing whatever it takes to come out victorious.

For Best Film:

I think that a strong candidate for the Oscars 2012 is the film The Artist. I think the fact that the film is 1. A very powerful movie despite being a silent film and 2.related to the movie industry would help play a part in swaying the judges’ votes.

Best Actor:

I think George Clooney has the Best actor trophy in the bag for his work on The Descendants. His lead role in the film centered on family relationships was so striking and seems to be a return to form to Classic Clooney.

Best Actress:

For Best Actress, my bet would be Viola Davis for her role on The Help. Her very convincing role as a middle-aged black maid who takes care of white children just works on so many levels and would probably lead to an award for her. Those are just three of the major awards that I have my pulse on.

Being a big time Comic book geek, I am very much hyped up for the San Diego Comic-Con 2012. I think that with the boom of comic based things recently (The Avenger character’s movies, X-Men First Class, The Spidey Reboot, and the Batman Movies) this year would be a big one when it comes to comic convention.

I believe that there are so many things to look forward to in this year’s iteration of the comic con. Some of the things that I would be so amped up about are the previews and cast interviews for both the Avengers Movie and the Dark Knight Rises. The release of the new toy lines that would feature things that I may want to collect, and of course the new comics and story arcs that would be announced during the event.

Aside from these things, one I am truly looking forward to at the San Diego Comic-Con 2012 on July would be the chance to be able to interact with my fellow comic geeks, Being cooped up in my office for the better part of the year, I no longer have the chance to go out and talk with people who share my interest with the comic culture. I don’t have the opportunity to trade or purchase items, compare opinions and generally share my love for the medium. That is why I hope that by being able to participate in the San Diego Comic-Con 2012, I would be able to have the chance to do those things again.

Let’s just say that the Lakers were a bit procrastinated during their match against the Clippers. Why? First off, Kobe only stood up in the second half of the game (and mind you people, he churned in 40 points).

And it’s not just Kobe who played hard in the match-Andrew Bynum also led the rebounds and assists throughout the game. Chris Paul of the Clippers was the highest scorer during the match but he’s still 7 points behind Kobe.

If there’s one thing evident during the game however, it’s that the Clippers had better strategy than the Lakers. They used the same strategy they had with the Heat last January 3, but this time they started with players who knew their opponent best-Caron Butler and DeAndre Jordan-aka the defectors of LA Lakers.

But I guess the Lakers have already learned their lesson-not to procrastinate. Even if Chris Paul left during the halftime because of an ankle injury, they shouldn’t have relaxed during the match. The 102-94 loss for Lakers is not really a big deal. The next matches will just show us the team that rules the court this season.

One reason for this is that the Heat’s giants couldn’t beat the small but powerful forwards of both the Clippers and Warriors. Actually this strategy was first used by the Warriors and later copied by the Clippers during their bout against Heat. This is no surprise though-even in the Bible it says the small but terrible David was able to beat the giant Goliath and make him fall to the ground.

And yes, I also blame the Heat’s losses on its passive, complacent stars, Dwayne Wade and LeBron James. Why is LeBron depending too much on Wade to do the shots during both games? Is he the only player around? If they intended to do a tag-team performance, then should have utilized each other’s powers instead.

Well, I blame it more on LeBron’s poor on-court performance. Wade was overworked. Given that LeBron relied too much in Wade to do the shooting, it got him tired and exhausted just right before the halftime break. Wade’s no Superman and he knows that. With the team’s star player tired and the starters not ever capable of making the outside shots (only menacing turnovers and free throws for Clippers and Warriors), we already knew what to expect from Miami Heat.

Personally, I am a bit saddened by the news. The Beats line of headphones were one of the things that helped usher in awareness for personal audio products. There were so many premium-priced Beats by Dr. Dre headphones that people suddenly wanted to know more about audio quality instead of simply using the generic earphones or headphones that were bundled with their music players. While the Beats may not have been best in class with regard to audio quality, they still helped in making consumers more aware that there is a higher level of audio quality than those that were offered by the generic peripherals.

On the other hand, I am looking forward to how the split would help increase the number of viable alternatives. I heard that Monster would now focus on a headphone line for executives. This just means that the audio companies would now widen their scope as compared with relying on the Beats brand which was more targeted towards the pop culture.

At first I thought that his piece was redundant, after all it is a given that the billionaires and millionaires are already paying higher taxes as they have a higher income. As such, his suggestion is already being used. Upon reading the full piece however, I realized that he wanted a much higher tax bracket for the truly rich people.

I realized that maybe there is some sense to his suggestion why they should pay more taxes. With the amount of money that these people make, giving some of it back to the country can be beneficial for everyone. While they may stand to lose a higher amount initially, the additional opportunity that is being created for the people by the infusion of the tax money can ultimately better the economy for the benefit of everyone.

Taken with more contexts, I think the idea of that columnist is not that audacious or farfetched. In fact I also read that rich man Warren Buffett himself, supported the idea that they should pay more taxes.

I have not visited Akihabara, Japan yet. However, my increasing love for all things Asian, especially Japanese items, have made me continually study the place. I found out that it would definitely be the place to be if I am searching for both new and used items that pertain to electronics and anime. Another good thing is that I also heard that some of the items that are being sold there are sold much cheaper than when they are imported to my country and sold here.

One more reason that I would want to go to Akihabara would be to be able to check out the shops that were dedicated to robotics. I first saw these shops through anime that I had watched before but I didn’t believe them. I thought that these are just places that were made up. However, I found out that there are truly some shops that are dedicated to robots and robotics which I should really try to visit.

I hope that I would be able to visit Akihabara, Japan this year. I am looking forward to going to the various shops and being able to look at and purchase all the electronics and anime things that my eyes would set upon.

There are many reasons of being part in Modern Warfare 3 clan tourneys, regardless if you’re a fan of Call of Duty or not. I say this because:

With better social networking access during the game play, you can keep track of your allies and enemies and find strategies to win the game according to your terms.

3. Win more points with Pointstreaks. Tired of the killing spree back in Modern Warfare 2? If you’re being more diplomatic this time around, then you can still win the game without killing too much in MW3 via Pointstreaks. New features such as the Assault strike, as well as the modified Ranks and Unlocks system will help you play longer without dying. Now who’s immortal?
